Revolve is an interactive clock.that takes you on an art history journey It provides participants an immersive experience by letting the participants choose artists they want to learn about and provides their own photos as input. During the experience, participants can gain a basic understanding of artists and paintings. As opposed to the traditional way of learning, we wanted to create an interactive way to understand art history and make the audience engaged in each picture.

Experience
“Revolve” supports visionary and tactile experiences.
First, participants can select one of six artists by rotating the bigger clock hand. After that, they should turn the small clock hand, which indicates the time. Depending on the specific position of the small clock, one of three different visual effects is triggered:
Artist’s painting: If the original painting appears on the screen, it means that participants did not find the right period when the artist was active. They should adjust the smaller pointer again to see the computer vision effect.
Interactive computer vision effect: If people find the right period, they can experience visualized animation inspired by the original artwork. The camera on the laptop captures their faces and detects motions.
A collage of paintings influenced by the original art after the artist was dead: If people turn the small hand to the time when the artist was deceased, participants will get the artist’s collage.
Functionality
Select any artist by rotating the bigger clock hand. Then rotate the hand of the small clock to understand when the artist was born and his famous works, and the impact of him after death on future artistic creation. Here we use the form of visual animation to extract the elements in art works and increase the user's interaction with the artwork and revolve.
Rotary Clock Hands
We have 2 clock hands on the product, a bigger one which connects 270 degrees potentiometer on the bigger interface that indicates 6 artists names, and a smaller one which connects 360 degrees encoder that shows the time periods of all artists. By rotating the bigger one, user can chose one artist he/she likes, then user can rotate the time period which starts from 1820 and ends to 2000. While the user is rotating the on the time template, he can see when the artist was born, later on he can see the artist’s famous art work. As he continue rotating, the camera on laptop captures his face and trans it into visualized animation which based on the elements from the artist’s art works. When he turns into the time the artist was dead, it would show on the screen that the later art works that influenced by this artist, and also the visualized animation.

Coding
Based on Kyle Mcdonald’s code, we created new styles with computer vision. We reinterpreted each artist’s painting and explored ways to stylize any given webcam image not only by adjusting colors and strokes but also by creating multiple layers.
